01.07 Patterns

I invite you to roam around in your surroundings and see what patterns are there? Can the pattern inform anything to you that has to do with your design. I am inviting you to use natures patterns as metaphors. Leave a little space and let your body (and mind) feel what the patterns speaks to you. 

You can also start noting the patterns you have in life. Some good some bad. You can journal patterns of a day and start reflecting on them. In order to later try to thoughtfully move towards the patterns of the day that makes you move n the direction you wish. Be kind to yourself and honor small steps.

Personal life

  • connection between posture and emotion/energy state
    • common: slumped posture when there is a feeling of exhaustion or tiredness
    • common: I get curled up – when I feel cold?
  • when I try to improve my posture I often stick out my chest too much
  • common tendency: I discover a new self-care habit that suits me (e.g. body-scan, breathing, mindfulness), keep it up for a while, lose motivation and give it up. I think I stop when there is a need to move forward and I don’t look for a next step that will take me further.
  • When I concentrate on breathing well, my posture improves.
  • After a taxing situation (p.e. a fight with Guille) fall into evasive practices (I need space to recover my energy)

Observation of nature

  • Cane and palm tree growth: a leaf comes out, then another leaf inside it… until it becomes a trunk, growing tall. Then the lower leaves die.
  • Nature and construction:
    • Nature always wants to invade and destroy our constructions. As soon as we cease to maintain them, it makes them its own again, reincorporates them into its cycle.
    • Plants grow out of the cracks, they want to grow in everything.
